The Association of Rotational Moulders of Southern Africa (ARMSA) was founded in 1992 and officially formed in 1994 by a group of enthusiastic Rotational Moulders and suppliers who saw the need to grow the industry by increasing the demand and consumption of high quality rotationally moulded products in South Africa.

25 Years on, as the official body of the rotomoulding industry in Southern Africa, ARMSA, spearheads the setting, maintaining and improving of local quality standards and played an important role in the recent launch of the SANS 1731:2017 standard for polyethylene (plastic) chemical and water storage tanks which was developed in conjunction with the South African Bureau of Standard (SABS).

ARMSA offers support to its members by networking with rotomoulding associations around the world to ensure that the Southern African industry is informed of important international trends and developments, information sharing, best practice and benchmarking. Our alignment with the Affiliation of Rotational Moulding Organisations (ARMO), the global rotational moulding industry forum, has played an important role in achieving our industry objectives. ARMSA was host of the global ARMO conference in September 2019 at Sun City where over 150 delegates from 25 different countries attended.

ARMSA also hosts an annual student design competition, sponsored by Sasol (one of ARMSA’s associate members). Second year Industrial design students from the University of Johannesburg are invited to spend a day at one of our member’s factories to better understand the rotational moulding process. After this, within the ambit of a theme set by ARMSA, they have to design a product. Many of the past winning products are today successfully produced within the industry.
